Step 5: What happens next?

Before your application for a Lamp/Brake Station license is ready for licensure, an inspector from the local BAR field office will visit your shop. The inspector will verify that your shop has:

  • Equipment and manuals necessary for the type(s) of license for which you have applied, AND
  • Adjusters with the appropriate individual licenses for the type(s) of station license for which you have applied

The inspector will also clarify any issues that may arise to ensure an appointment can be scheduled for a station inspection. If your station passes inspection, the inspector will submit a report to BAR's Licensing Unit, requesting licensure. Your application should be processed within 4-6 weeks from the time BAR initially receives your application.
